Clint Eastwood co-stars with a chair (just kidding) in a feel good anti-Moneyball baseball tale

82 year old Clint Eastwood almost gets to be a slacker  here because for the first time in 19 years, he just stars in this one- he leaves the directing duties to  a good friend.

Eastwood plays Gus, an aging baseball scout who is about to be put out to pasture. With his critical eyesight failing, estranged lawyer-daughter Mickey (Amy Adams) joins him on what could be this last scouting  mission.  Justin Timberlake  plays a rival scout.

Eastwood still effortlessly  tears up the screen. And  Amy Adams is a good fit.

This is a corny, old-school, feel good, predictable sports movie. Not that there’s anything wrong with  that. It’s like an old shoe.  It feels great and while far from perfect and certainly not  cool- well- it’s effective and warmly  comfortable.
