Ladies, help me settle an ongoing argument with a "complicated" friend of mine by answering the poll below. Here's the sitch...
Almost four years ago my friend met a woman, and they went out a couple of times. She quickly discovered my friend - who I must tell you I care for a lot - happens to be the leading wholesaler of "crazy" in SW Florida! Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy. He's generous to a fault, has a great sense of humor and is as loyal as the day is long. But he's also in bad need of a qualified therapist, cult deprogammer or priest. As for the woman in this story, she very quickly decided that even though my friend's a decent looking guy, she was incredibly UNattracted to his personality, lifestyle and most of all - his obsessive ways! After less than a week she decided to end whatever it is they had. From that point on, my friend has obssessively maintained a very public opinion that the woman in this story is simply "confused," or perhaps "scared of her true feelings" for him. Those are the only explanations for why this woman doesn't want to be with him, he continues to explain to this day. His newest theory is that this woman is actually mentally ill, and that once she gets help and gets better, she'll see him "in a whole new light," and will finally want to start a relationship. He's even gone so far as to diagnose her as suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder. She does not, by the way.
Eventually, the woman in this story felt as if she had no choice but to be honest with my friend and she told him in no uncertain terms: "I will NEVER be with you," (insert Taylor Swift song here). Since then, my friend - bless his heart - has spent every single day of his existence tellling his friends as well as her friends (not to mention any co-worker, waitress or even stranger on the street!) that he doesn't believe her, and that in his words, "never doesn't mean never." I agree with you that he's obsessed - but I want to also make it clear that he's never actually stalked or harrassed this woman - he's just allowed word of mouth and a shared circle of friends to perpetuate his constant, neurotic and single-minded message. I should also point out though that this woman has said his persistent obsession has only confirmed her feelings (or lack thereof) for him, and has also made her even MORE determined to "never" want to even cross paths with my friend again. She even has gone so far as to switch grocery stores after they once ran into each other in her neighborhood Publix, so there will be less chance of ever seeing him again.
SO....with all of that I ask you:
*****start poll*****
